Does anyone else sit down to “window shop” on their phone and then proceed to essentially black out and not realize what has happened until that dreaded confirmation email pops up? “Thanks for shopping with us!” Insert guilty feeling here.
However, you only live once! Those black booties and that distressed denim jacket are not going to wear themselves. I say splurge – after all if you wear combat boots in the forest and nobody's there to see them, are they even cute? Or something like that.
Here are the stages of online shopping I'm sure you can all relate to!
1. The “I’m just browsing …” moment
We’ve ALL been there. Browsing your favorite shops’ Fall arrivals. I honestly blame Instagram … how easy is it to get distracted by all the pictures?
2. The “OMG I have to have this …” moment
This is where things go from 0 to 100 real quick. Yes, it’s cute. Yes, you would look amazing in it, but is it necessary?
3. The “Add to cart but just for fun” moment
I like to refer to this as the moment of no return. This is when you’re not fooling anyone but yourself. This is also the moment you realize that your cart adds up to $500 … do you know how many tacos you can buy with that money? CLOSE THE WINDOW, GIRL!
4. The “I actually closed the window” moment … RARE
You did it! You manned up and closed that shopping window; you broke the trance (standing ovation for you btw)! You think you’re home free … and then that “did you forget something?” email appears. Yeah, we all know how this is going to end.
5. The “I bought it” moment
You caved, and honestly it was worth it. You opened up that email; you applied that discount code, and you purchased that item like a pro. And let’s be totally honest…those jeans are going to look so good on you!
6. The “Do I really have to wait for this package” moment
The best part of online shopping is that you don’t have to wear pants. The worst part of online shopping is you don’t get to wear the pants you bought for three to seven days. It can feel like an eternity, not to be dramatic. I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder.
7. The “I’m going to have to hide this package” moment
You realize, while carefully tracking your package, that you are going to hide this from someone. Your husband, your parents, possibly the dog … anyone that makes you feel shame. You have an addiction, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
8. The “Your package has been delivered” moment
IT HAS ARRIVED! You drive home or run to the door and pick up the item you’ve been waiting for. Then remember you have five more coming …
